Summer in Seattle is weird. I’ve been here twenty years and it’s still weird. The temperature rarely gets above the high 70’s, and our biggest problem is a lack of rain. My vegetables are a mixed bag; The onions withered away, the carrots appear to be okay (kind of hard to tell until you pull them up), The artichokes are done for the year, the corn is stunted (never got the hang of corn) and the tomatoes are doing great.
This weekend we are heading off to the other end of the state to be laid back guests at SpoCon (http://spocon.org/) a science fiction convention. I saw recently that Spokane is considered one of the happiest cities in the world, I expect to have a good time. We will also be doing a signing at the local Barnes & Nobel on Thursday @ 3 PM. According to the weather folks, the temp out there is in the 90’s, so I’ll get to experience some good old fashioned midwest style summer heat. Kaja is thrilled.
